I bought 2 of these stools to go along with my original Cosco Step Stool, inherited from my Nana. As a child, I used to sit on it in her kitchen. Now it sits in my kitchen, is called The Nana Stool, and is fought over by my grandchildren. Hence the need for a couple more. I can tell you the stool is the same size as the original (perhaps a half inch shorter) and the seat is EXACTLY the same size as the original. It is, however, more comfortable due to the padded seat and back. The steps mechanism is different, but actually easier to use (the original requires a lift and pull technique that my grandchildren have had to be taught, while the new ones simply pull straight out). The framework is more robust and the stool is slightly heavier than the original. It's not a 5 star because I don't know how long the padding on the seat will last, but looks easy enough to replace if and when necessary. I don't know if the plastic runner for the steps will last the 50+ years of the original metal but as I'll never know whether it made it to my grandchildren's kitchens and got sat on by my great great grandchildren, it looks fine to me. Because of the tension required in the frame, it can be a bit tricky to put together. Advice: when it says loosely fix the screws, it means LOOSELY fix the screws until everything is in place. Overall, I am delighted with them. I only wonder if I need to get a couple more so each of my children can have one as part of their inheritance.
