The only reason I am giving this tent a 5 star rating is because there isn't a 6. My wife purchased this tent for me on Amazon through Goliath Electronics. Their customer service is phenomenal. The first weekend I had the tent, the kids wanted to camp in the back yard. We set it up and it truly goes up in 30 seconds, absolutely amazing. Staking it down and putting on the fly take another 5 minutes so you are still under 6 minutes for total setup time. The overall quality of the tent is outstanding.
The night we used it we were supposed to get a little rain with snow in the mountains. We are not in the mountains so we did not worry about it. With the full rain fly, the internal temperature of the tent was nice and cozy. It got down the mid 30's that night and we were quite comfortable. The Vestibule in the front is also very nice for keeping your shoes outside.
It rained on us all night, not hard but a steady rain. The inside of the tent remained bone dry. Since it was raining I couldn't cook breakfast outside so I went into the house to cook. It wasn't supposed to snow so I wasn't too worried about taking down the tent. I spent some time with my wife then realized that it was snowing and snowing hard. I looked outside and the tent was still intact but was starting to bow in where the snow was weighing it down. I figured it would stop soon so I didn't worry about it. It kept snowing and by now the tent had completely collapsed. I went outside and brushed the snow off and dragged the tent to an area that was shielded by my house. I left it there to "dry" out for a few days. What that really meant is that I was nervous about what I would find inside and procrastinated it. 4 days later when I got around to taking the tent down I was totally surprised to find that there was no water inside. Not even a drop and there were no signs of water ever being in there. the only issue is that one of the poles showed signs of hairline fractures, most likely from being flattend by the snow. I was sad but not surprised since the tent was not marketed as a 4 season tent, only a 3 season.
I contacted Goliath Electronics, who I purchased the tent from, and they told me that the poles should be under warranty and that I should contact the manufacturer directly. They gave me the number and website then told me that if the manufacturer wouldn't do anything, that I could call them back and they would take care of it. This was not necessary as the Grand Trunk customer service was equally magnificent. The first lady I talked to said that she was glad I liked the tent and that she would transfer me to the warehouse so that they could ship me some new poles. The warehouse got my information and are sending out the poles today.
I absolutely love this tent and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a mid size tent that hates to spend half an hour setting it up. It is everything advertized and more.
